Every Major Death In Jujutsu Kaisen So Far! [2023]

Many people died in the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen. Some were influential and major characters while others were not so important to the plot! In today’s article, we will learn about all the characters that died throughout the anime series of Jujutsu Kaisen. So, make sure to read this article until the end. 1. Jogo 

Jogo is one of the major antagonists in the story whose influence on the plot is considerable! Jogo was the very first Cursed Spirit who faced off against Gojo Satoru before the Shibuya Incident. He thought that Gojo wasn’t much and could be easily defeated. He was proven wrong though as Gojo without even putting much effort, obliterates Jogo.

However, lady luck was on Jogo’s side that day and he escaped with the help of Hanami. Despite that, he was as foolish as ever in the Shibuya Incident arc! He fed Itadori Yuji a lot of fingers of Sukuna. This made Sukuna able to take over Yuji’s body and go berserk.

Later on, in the same arc, Jogo is killed by Sukuna brutally just because of his ignorance and arrogance!

2. Mahito 

Mahito is a terrifying opponent to face off against in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen! However, even he wasn’t able to take on the full brunt of Todo and Yuji’s powers. In the Shibuya Incident Arc, Kugisaki Nobara died because of Mahito which enraged Yuji. With the help of Todo who is his friend Yuji defeated Mahito.

However, Kenjaku came and absorbed Mahito thus ending his life in the process too. He made Mahito one of his weapons as he is a very powerful Cursed Spirit!

3. Toji Fushiguro

Toji Fushiguro is the one who fought Gojo Satoru head-on and even managed to kill him. However, Gojo being himself tricked even his death and with the Reversed Cursed Technique healed his fatal wounds. He then goes on to defeat Toji and invents a new technique called Hollow Technique: Purple in the process. Toji’s abdominal region was completely gone from this blow of Gojo. This instantly killed Toji Fushiguro and also disheartened a lot of fans of his!

4. Kento Nanami 

Kento Nanami who is the mentor and a cherished junior of Yuji and Gojo was also killed brutally in the Shibuya Incident Arc! He is an exceptionally powerful Sorcerer who even gives Mahito a run for his money. Despite the odds, Mahito ultimately activated his domain, “Self Embodiment of Perfection” and was about to kill Nanami in season one of Jujutsu Kaisen. If not for Itadori’s help Nanami would’ve surely been killed by Mahito at that point of the story!

But he lived to see another day. Nanami was not so lucky in the Shibuya Incident Arc, as Mahito attacked him after he was worn down and ultimately killed him in the process in front of Yuji. This made a lot of fans of the series lose their heart. Anime-only fans will have to prepare themselves for what’s coming!

5. Hanami 

Hanami is the Cursed Spirit who along with Kenjaku and other Cursed Spirits tried to defeat and seal Gojo Satoru in the Shibuya Incident Arc. He is also the one who fought against Todo and Yuji in the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc. However, Hanami had to concede because of Gojo’s arrival. At that time he escaped barely escaping his death in the name of Gojo.

However, in the Shibuya Incident Arc, he wasn’t very much lucky. Gojo after ripping off his branches crushed him against the wall with his infinity! This instantly kills the Cursed Spirit.

6. Riko Amanai

In the Hidden Inventory Arc, Riko Amanai was shot to death by Toji Fushiguro! When she was on her way to assimilate with Tengen, suddenly Geto asked her question if she wanted to live or not. Riko who didn’t completely give up on life was in tears after hearing this proposition of Geto’s. She agreed and extended her hand to get out of Tengen’s lair.

However, Toji Fushiguro who just defeated Gojo follows Geto and the rest’s footprints and scent to track them down. He instantly shoots Riko in the head. Which results in her untimely death. This leaves both Geto and fans speechless as she was a fan-favourite character. The demise of this bubbly and cheerful girl made many fans hate Toji Fushiguro for his actions!

7. Junpei 

Junpei is a victim of extreme bullying. He hated not only the perpetrators but everyone around him. That’s when Mahito saw an opportunity and offered Junpei help. He said that he will give Junpei powers to fight back the scumbags who harassed him.

Junpei whom no one offered his help, for the first time in his life, received help from someone and was very happy about it. He initially thought that Mahito was a very good person to help someone like him. However, this wasn’t the case at all!

Mahito was just using Junpei to his advantage. It was too late by the time Junpei came to know about the entire truth from his friend Yuji. Mahito appeared at the scene and used his Idle Transfiguration to mutate him. Junpei begged Yuji to end his life.

Later on, he was killed. This incident happened right before Yuji’s eyes and managed to truly anger him. Yuji swore that no matter what he would take Junpei’s revenge on Mahito!

8. Muta Kokichi (Mechamaru)

Mechamaru who is a Jujutsu Sorcerer was recently revealed to be a spy working for Geto’s faction. He did this on the condition that Mahito would use his Cursed Technique to restore his body. He made a pact with the said antagonists for the given reason. However, in reality, he was going to fight both Geto and Mahito once his body was healed!

He prepared for the inevitable confrontation, investing decades in figuring out a way to fight them both. His plan was to defeat Mahito and somehow contact Gojo to ask him for help. However, he failed in this plan of his and eventually got killed at the hands of Mahito. He just wanted to see everyone’s smile again but wasn’t able to!

This death didn’t affect fans that much because of a weak connection with this particular character!

9. Rika Orimoto

Rika Orimoto, Yuta Okkutsu’s childhood friend is one of the few people in the series who influences the plot greatly. She is the one who accompanied Yuta during his lonely childhood days. However, things don’t remain the same as always, they are bound to change. The same happened during Yuta’s childhood.

We saw in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 that Rika Orimoto who is the childhood friend of Yuta Okkutsu dies in a car accident. However, Yuta in a state of shock and disbelief prayed that she would not die and thus, gave birth to the Cursed Spirit of Rika!

10. Masamichi Yaga

Principle Masamichi Yaga, Gojo and Geto’s teacher and Panda’s creator ultimately dies at the hands of… After the Shibuya Incident, the higher-ups decided to put all the blame for the said Incident on Principal Masamichi Yaga. He was charged and sentenced to death. Later on, Principal Gakuganji of the Kyoto school meets him in an alleyway.

He goes on to fight Yaga and eventually comes out as a victor in the deadly battle. He also tries to get the secret of creating advanced Cursed Corpses like Panda from Yaga. However, Yaga refuses to say anything and Gakuganji carries out the execution killing him in the process. The most heart-wrenching aspect of this fight is that Panda saw Yaga, a father-like figure for him, die in front of his very eyes!

What Is The Shibuya Incident In Jujutsu Kaisen?

Simply say, the Shibuya Incident arc is all about Jujutsu sorcerers having an all-out war against the curses on October 31st, 2018! The curses faction leader is Pseudo-Geto and their one and only goal is to seal Satoru Gojo. This arc will be filled with blood, violence, and gore themes. Also, this arc is a very big one said to be 24 episodes long adapting a total of 58 chapters!
