With different anime offering levels of explicit content ranging in censorship and viewership age ratings, certain anime just aren’t readily available due to their mature themes that make them unsuitable for release on TV and major family-oriented platforms. Such is the case for controversial but popular ecchi adventure-fantasy anime Redo of Healer.
What is Redo of Healer?
Redo of Healer, known more commonly in Japan as ‘Kaiyari’ is a dark fantasy story released as an adaptation of its manga in late 2021 and follows the tragic fate of Keyaru. Blessed with the talents of a healer, Keyaru is shunned and abused by his peers for his inability to stand his own in a fight. Through a series of misfortunate events, he is exploited and sexu@lly tortured over the course of years, causing him to verge on madness and suffer psychological trauma. At the height of his healing powers, Keyaru realizes the full potential of his powers and rewinds time in order to exact revenge upon all those who betrayed and abused him. However, his methods of vengeance are morally questionable and have caused the anime to gain a mixed reputation.
Due to its notoriety, the anime experienced intense backlash and has quietened any further discussion of a sequel season that could have been in the works. Since the anime shows slight deviation from its manga and light novel, there is no credible prediction for what events could transpire in a possible second season.
Regardless of whether fans choose to watch the censored or uncensored version of Redo of Healer, viewer discretion is advised. The anime explicitly displays scenes of sexual violence, rape, intense gore, physical disfigurement, and varying degrees of murder. In its uncensored version, the anime is closer to hentai than ecchi and has been informally dubbed softcore porn by fans. Such scenes might cause discomfort and be triggering, the anime is strictly not recommended for viewers below the age of 18.
Where to Watch It?
Redo of Healer is not available on major streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Crunchyroll and Funimation. However, it can be streamed legally on HIDIVE, available only in some countries like the USA but accessible through VPN. It is available in English, Danish, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish in both sub and dub. HIDIVE was launched in 2017 and is based in Houston, Texas. It boasts an official license from content producers and original creators from Japan, making it safe and legit for viewers to use without worry. However, for viewers who aren’t too preferential on the legality of viewership and would prefer an alternative to HIDIVE where you will be required to pay a subscription, the anime can also be found on free popular streaming sites AnimeSuge, Hanime, 9anime, Aniwatch and Gogoanime.
